Introduction

The John H. Shook Foundation was established in furtherance of John H. Shook’s enduring legacy. It is our mission to provide financial support, benevolent care and other community programs and services to benefit and serve the needs of the elderly community within Franklin County and the Central Pennsylvania region.

The Foundation seeks to improve the quality of life, well-being and independence of the growing aging population by making grants to public charities and other qualified non-profit organizations that align with our mission.

Applicant Requirements:

The John H. Shook Foundation welcome applications from qualifying 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations or other similarly recognized charitable entities, including government agencies and educational institutions. To be considered, grant proposals must demonstrate a clear alignment with the Foundation’s commitment to enhance the quality of life of local older adults by addressing their physical, emotional and social well-being.

 

Application Process:

To ensure your application is considered, please submit the application and all requires documentation through our Application online portal no later than July 3, 2026.

Incomplete applications or those submitted after the deadline will automatically be disqualified.

Grant proposals will be evaluated subject to a standardized scoring rubric. To ensure impartiality, Board members are required to recuse themselves from any reviews involving potential conflicts of interest.

Grant Timeline:

  • July 3, 2026 – Application Deadline
  • July-August 2026 – Application Review
  • September 2026 – Grantee Notification
  • October 2026 – Grant Distributions
